First Listen: Former Stylistics lead singer Eban Brown collabs on “Brand New” reggae remake

(April 15, 2018) In 2000, Harold Eban Brown of Newark, New Jersey, replaced Russell Thompkins, Jr. as lead singer of The Stylistics.  Being in that role for almost 18 years, Eban sang “You Make Me Feel Brand New” (which was many times the set closer for the group’s American concerts) on countless occasions at several venues alongside his then-bandmates.  So he was the perfect person to have on a new reggae-flavored remake of the song, produced by vocalist, audio engineer and musician, Mason di Emporer, who also sings on the track.

This groovy version of “You Make Me Feel Brand New” is included on Mason di Emperor’s latest project, Lover’s Rock, which is his first full reggae “Lovers rock” album.  If that confused you for a second, the album is called Lover’s Rock, and this album is Mason di Emperor’s first in the “Lovers rock” genre, which is a style of reggae distinctive for its romantic content.

Check out the lyric video for Mason and Eban’s cool cover below, and rock on.
