(February 14, 2023) Back in 2016, SoulTracks critic L. Michael Gipson wrote what has become the most popular quote about singer and songwriter Lindsey Webster: “If Carole King and Sade had a kid, she would be Lindsey Webster.” And we’ve been following the chanteuse ever since, as she has emerged from a fledgling indie career in Woodstock, New York, to a regular place at the top of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts.
Last Fall, Lindsey issued her much anticipated album, Reasons, and it didn’t disappoint. A tasty combination of jazz-infected pop and soul, it became yet another smash for her. One of our favorite songs from the disc is “Stay With Me,” a song co-written by Webster with longtime collaborator Keith Slattery and featuring trumpeter Randy Brecker and pianist/rapper Kev Choice. “Stay With Me” is a midtempo that is right down Lindsey Webster’s center lane: Light, melodic, and fronted by her dexterous vocals, a tasty number that walks the tightrope between soul and jazz in a way that should make fans in both camps.
Lindsey tells us, “I had such a great time working with our team for this video! Keith Slattery and I have shot and created all of our videos so far, and it was awesome to have some help this time around.”
We’re proud to present the World Premiere of Lindsey’s brand new video for “Stay With Me,” a reminder of just how engaging this song is. Check it out below.
