“Able” is a song tailor made for praise and worship teams that features vocals from a gospel music legend Marvin Winans and Jonathan McReynolds, a gospel artist who is well on his way of crafting his own legend.
Marvin Winans created some of the greatest and groundbreaking gospel music as a member of The Winans. Those brothers refined the art fusing the good news of the gospel with arrangements that incorporated elements of R&B music. McReynolds’ combines his sweet tenor voice with his topflight talents as a songwriter, and now the two have come together on “Able,” a tune that appears on My Truth, McReynolds’ latest album.
“Able” is the kind of praise power ballad that will be used to usher in the spirit into the sanctuary. The cut finds McReynolds and Winans lending their voices to a song that reminds listeners that no problem is too big for God to solve.
“Able” begins Reynolds singing with only an acoustic guitar accompanying. He’s then joined by backing vocalists and an organ. The second verse features Winans power packed vocals paired with a classic R&B arrangement that grows as the two singers improvise and engage in call and response with the choir.
