Thursday, November 3, 2011, the Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW) will proudly present, On the Rise, a Soul and R&B Showcase highlighting some of the best emerging and established Soul and R&B artists from the DC Metro Area including:  Dionne, Deborah Bond, Eric Scott, Levi Stephens, Lea, TalumiDE, Dumi Right, Sol Roots, along with student performers Jamie Boyd, Devin Kowl, and Kriss Mincey. The selected artists have gained regional and national attention and represent some of the best talent that the area has to offer.

The event will be hosted by special guest, Darien who will also perform music from his hit CD, If These Walls Could Talk.  Darien is the winner of 2010 Budweiser Superfest “Battle for the Crown” and was named 2010 SoulTracks “Artist to Watch.” Cleveland Spears, DJ from WPFW show Fantastic Fridays will interview Darien on what it takes to write great and timeless music.  This will be an amazing performance and educational event and we look forward to turning it into a regular event series.
