Singer Rachelle Ferrell is healing; thanks fans for their support

(December 28, 2023) Back in August we reported about the fund that was formed by friends to assist singer and songwriter extraordinaire Rachelle Ferrell, who was then going through some unfortunate health and life-related hardships. SoulTrackers and others responded generously, and Rachelle has now posted a note of thanks to all those who showed their caring in multiple ways. The note reads:

It is from a space of profound love and extreme humility that I write this note expressing my deepest and most sincere gratitude for all the family and friends that have prayed for me, cared about me and/or given their hearts to me via this very SWEET relief fund.

Since your outpouring of support a few months ago, I have been sleeping more, eating more, believing more and even writing music for the first time in several years. Please know that I am healing.

Beyond me, however, I am eternally grateful to trusted organizations like SWEET Relief for what they do to provide refuge for artists that bare their vulnerable souls to the world to the point of exhaustion.

I have so MUCH MORE to say soon, but for now the most urgent and important two words that I can share are…THANK YOU in every language I know. On repeat.

          Rachelle Ferrell

This is a wonderful Christmas present to the many friends and fans who have prayed and thought bout Ms. Ferrell over the past few months.

The Berwyn, Pennsylvania-born Ferrell began her career as a background singer for Lou Rawls, Patti LaBelle and others, and her prowess won for her a recording contract with Capitol Records.

It was her second album, the 1991 self-titled Rachelle Ferrell, that was her breakthrough, hitting both the R&B and Pop album charts. Three years later, a reissue of her debut album, called First Instrument, hit the Jazz top five. Throughout her career, Ferrell has collaborated with a diverse range of musicians, including George Duke, Marcus Miller, and Will Downing. She has also shared the stage with legends such as Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, and Al Jarreau. And though it has been two decades since she released a new album, Ferrell continues to be one of the most referenced musical artists of her generation. And now we have great hope that there is more to come.
