Janet Jackson, Motown Records lead 2018 R&B Hall Of Fame nominations

(November 11, 2017) Detroit, MI – The Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame has named its nominations for the Class of 2018, and the list is winding and diverse, including Motown RecordJanet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle,  Berry Gordy, Billy Paul, Peabo Bryson, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Apollo Theater, and New Editions. The rest of this year’s hopefuls are Jerry Lee Lewis, Barry White, Nat King Cole, Keith SweatStephanie MillsGeorge ClintonGamble & HuffThe Dells, The Diffters

The top ten vote-getters will be announced in February, Black History Month, but won’t be inducted into the Hall of Fame until June, Black Music Month, with a ceremony. This year’s ceremony will be nationally broadcast. 

Last year’s induction class included Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Manhattans, Freda Payne, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Carl Carlton and The Impressions.
