This is an exciting development for fans of the iconic music city, which ruled the charts in the 70s and early 80s under the production genius of "The Mighty Three" -- Gamble, Huff and Bell -- as well as dozens of iconic artists, writers and musicians including The O'Jays, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Stylistics, The Three Degrees, Patti LaBelle, Billy Paul, MFSB, Lou Rawls, The Jones Girls, Phyllis Hyman and many more.

The documentary will be produced by Alex Gibney and directed by Sam Pollard, who last year wowed audiences with his work on the Mr. Soul documentary.

No timeframe for the release of the documentary was given.
