(June 6, 2021) Soul music fans were devastated in February of this year by the loss of Mary Wilson, a founding member of The Supremes and the person who kept that group in our hearts for decades. Now comes the sad news that Mary’s younger sister Cathy (sometimes spelled Kathy) has died. She was Wilson’s “baby sister.” Wilson also had a younger brother named Roosevelt. Cathy was born into the family after the Wilson family moved to Detroit from Mississippi, where Mary was born
In a post today from Mary Wilson’s children on her Facebook page today:
Unfortunately our family has suffered another huge loss, our beautiful, loving auntie Kathy, or as Mom would always tease, “my baby sister.”
On June 1st while surrounded by her husband, two loving daughters and grandchildren, she passed away in her home. For those of you who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing her, Kathy was the sweetest, most caring person with a contagious giggle, as well as Mom’s biggest cheerleader. I know Mom and Grandma were there waiting to welcome her.
May she rest at peace. Someday we will be together. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers
