Soul music gets a boost on November 3rd when The Soul Prince – Calvin Richardson launches The Soul Safe a two hour radio show on WBAV Charlotte, NC. The North Carolina native who cut his teeth on Gospel quartet music had dedicated his career to Soul music, only recently gaining recognition this year for his commitment to the genre with two Grammy nominations for his work in tribute to Bobby Womack, and an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award for "There Goes My Baby", a #1 hit for Charlie Wilson. The Soul Safe airs 9 to 11PM EST on WBAV and can be streamed via the internet at https://www.v1019.radio.com.
Calvin Richardson follows in the footsteps of Al B! Sure and Keith Sweat, also both R&B crooners with a substantial female fan base, to try his hand at radio. "I am excited to be branching out into radio with the Soul Safe. I’ve dedicated my career to Soul music, and it’s an honor to be recognized for it" says Richardson, "yet the Soul Safe is another vehicle to bring this music to the people while reaching my fanbase and developing my brand."
Not one to rest on his laurels, between consistent tour dates, Richardson released his fifth CD America’s Most Wanted on August 31st to instant acclaim with Soultracks.com predicting another potential Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album with the set USA Today describes as "fresh vibes from a singer that respects and values his roots." The project’s initial success, fueled by the Top 20 Billboard single "You’re So Amazing," has insiders buzzing about the track’s prospects in the Best Traditional R&B Vocal performance category for which he was nominated in last year’s balloting. Calvin Richardson is a Male Vocalist of the Year finalist for Soultracks.com Reader’s Choice Awards.
