Legendary guitarist Robert “Boogie” Bowles shares life story in print

Legendary guitarist Robert “Boogie” Bowles shared the stage with Smokey Robinson for 25 years after a career supporting some of the biggest R&B recordings of such artists as Tavares, Jerry Butler, Peaches and Herb and others.  Bowles played a key role in the sound of Tavares’ “Sky High,” which is being reissued this month, and which we recently remembered in all its glory in a new review.

Bowles has now told his event-filled story (with co-author Kathleen Greer Greaves) in his new book, Behind the Boogie: How I Became Guitarist for a Motown Legend. In the book Bowles talks about his enviable career and also gives advice to aspiring musicians based on his long experience.
