A Funk Above The Rest is broadcast live, in its prerecorded format, and as podcasts on both terrestrial and digital stations in America and abroad. The show has been instrumental in promoting and exposing the music of both independent and major artists from all over the globe. Skip The Funktologist is an ambassador of The Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center project, as well as a co-producer and guest host of the award winning show “The Funk Chronicles” filmed in Dayton OH.
Skip tells us about his show: “It was an idea that was in my heart ever since the year 1996. I was turned down by two other stations in the Denver market who both told me “there is no interest in the type of show you want to do.” In 2006 KUVO 89.3FM gave me the opportunity to bring that idea to life, and their support in the beginning set the stage for what more was to come. As the show’s popularity grew, I needed to move on to a platform that would allow for further and future growth. Currently, the digital station at WWW.KZKORADIO.COM and the terrestrial station KGNU 88.5FM/1390AM are home base for A Funk Above The Rest. Little did I know that many more opportunities would present themselves in the future. Along the way, syndication both nationally and internationally came into the fold. Along the way, concert booking and promotion came into the fold. Along the way TV appearances, radio, and magazine interviews came into the fold. I sincerely thank those of you who have supported my endeavors along the way. You have contributed to the success of A FUNK ABOVE THE REST in one way or another – Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Congratulations, Skip, and we hope for your funky contribution for years to come!
