The Journey Vol. 2

John_Payne.jpg

Like a modern day version of  The Family, singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist John Payne has woven in elements of Prince, Lil’ John, Groove Theory, and Tony! Toni! Toné! into a fantastic sophomore album. Straight out of the Bay area, Payne has worked with the likes of Larry Graham, The Coup, and even the Purple one himself.  And on the new disc he recruits George Clinton, Latoya London (of American Idol fame), and fellow funk disciple Martin Luther to redefine soul, pop, R&B and funk into an all new genre of its own, and in the process issues a fun and polished funk revival

Notable songs: "Cumaround," "Still Feel You," "Jussafreak" and "NEW Beautiful".
