(September 16, 2024) “Only Love,” the new song by Marshall Titus, is a soul anthem with the message for the moment in which we find ourselves. The current moment appears to be one where people tie their fates to temporal things like status and material gain. It’s also an age where hatred seems to be constant. However, as the title of Titus new song suggests, love is one thing that endures through the ages.
And with an arrangement that begins mostly with percussion, voice and piano and builds to a crescendo as Titus uses his signature gritty baritone to remind us of what is certain in these ever-changing times.
“Only Love” is a song that reminds us that humanity will not find answers to the world’s problem by looking to the past. We must through open hearts and open minds chart a better future. Titus is a singer comfortable with using his music to inspire and mobilize people.
Perhaps “Only Love” will put Titus in a situation where he preaches to the choir, but the choir sometimes needs to be inspired and motivated. Or, as Titus said, “’Only Love’is more than just a song to me. It’s a message, and a feeling that I believe we all need right now. We are living in an extraordinary time in human history. Only Love is an anthem for our humanity.”
