SoulTracks Looks Back: Lakeside wanted to “Hold your Hand”

lakeside

Another in the long line of great funk groups to come out of Dayton, Ohio, Lakeside had a string of great hits in the 80s as part of the hot SOLAR label. But perhaps their most unlikely hit was a slowed down, souled up version of the bouncy Beatles’ hit from the 60s, “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”  Lakeside’s take on the song was both unexpected and brilliant, and shot to the top of the charts.

We haven’t heard this great song on the radio for years, so we thought we’d bring it back as this week’s SoulTracks Looks Back feature. Listen and enjoy it all over again.
