And that makes us think about one deep album cut where artist, song and production (from Jam and Lewis, no less) met beautifully. Gill’s powerful reading of Samuel James Harris’s, “I Know Where I Stand,” from his album Provocative, was a moment of sheer glory, on a song about holding on to faith when life rocks you:
When the road gets rough
I’ve got to stand
Or else I’ll fall
In God’s creation
I know where I stand
