One of the greatest groups to ever come out of Detroit, the Four Tops (Read the full biography here) consisted of four singers who made history with their music and their longevity, only being separated by death.

Around 1972, when the Tops were at the tail end of their first Motown stint (moving to ABC for a second batch of hits), they issued what, at that time, was a rare thing: a music video. “A Simple Game” was their take on a prior Moody Blues song, and the video begins with the group members walking out of a classic car to begin singing. The song was a huge smash in the UK, but barely dented the charts here in the USA.

There’s not a lot of action in the video, but it is great to see the footage, and is also a reminder that, even beyond the big hits, the Four Tops had some terrific, lesser-known songs.
