Young Motown Princes James Jamerson, Jr (singer, bassist son of legendary James Jamerson) and David Williams (singer and guitarist inducted into the Guinness World Records for appearing on the most No.1 hit records in the world!), then both young studio aces, originally met playing in the Temptations touring band, but by 1978 were in-demand studio vets.

Their first “band” release, a top-40 radio monster (Billboard Disco #11, R&B #8 & Pop #21) “Don’t Hold Back” was paired on the Disco 12-inch version with “I Can Tell.” This studio musician ensemble (which cynically can be broken down into “The Motown Guys” plus “Toto” (of “Georgy Porgy” & “Africa” fame) produced two albums that you should absolutely Don’t Hold Back from owning, start here with this Lost Gem!
