First Listen: Newcomer W!ll goes for “Girls Like This”

(June 7, 2021) Hot Girl Summer ‘21 is about to get an upgrade. On the new single from Atlanta-based artist W!LL (with the exclamation), a sweet blend of funky guitar plunks, simple jazzy scats and cool synthy whistles take over. His R&B crooning and gritty baritone align well with the summery vibes, especially when I Can See Your Voice contestant (aka The Singing Chef) Caleb Minter jumps into the session with his smooth tenor and falsetto swoops.

Inside the lyrics, W!LL finds himself battling fiery temptations in love land. “Why do I always chase you/For some reason I can’t wait to,” he sings on the catchy chorus. The companion concept video adds more detail to the plight as the duo strut their stuff alongside a handful of gorgeous models in the Magic City strip club parking lot. The video director Hommeboy describes the scene as “a little bit of Grand Theft Auto meets Miami Vice.”
