It’s tough to sit still when listening to Netherlands-based R&B band Tristan. The quintet has a keen sense of classic soul, funk and pop, and they bring high energy to every song on their always-fun albums.
Tristan returns in April with the brand new disc, What Could Possibly Go Wrong, and they’re giving fans a sneak peek with a bouncy new single. “Perfect Girl” features bright-voice lead singer Jaycilee Teterissa (who the band teasingly calls their “perfect girl”), and is a throwback to 60s pop/soul.
A hot rhythm section and harmony-soaked backing vocals serve as a backdrop for Teterissa to strut her vocal stuff. And she uses it to convey an absolutely relatable lyrical story, as the singer tells her guy that he may need to rethink his simplistic view of a “perfect girl.” The singer may not be drama-free, but, to quote the group, “she can give him everything he needs and not everything he wants!”
Check out “Perfect Girl” below, and welcome Tristan back to SoulTracks.
