World Premiere: Tony Momrelle makes instant classic with “Rising Up”

(February 27, 2019) I’m not sure that lauded UK singer Tony Momrelle can sing something that I don’t like. We raved about his 2015 album Keep Pushing, and we’ve been tracking the singles he’s been releasing since then, both on his own and with friends such as the guys at Reel People.

For his upcoming single, “Rising Up,” Tony is taking a decidedly funky approach with full brass stabs, syncopation and a generally uplifting sound. And course, his vocals, dripping with the classic soul vibes of Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, is a wonder as usual. This one is an instant classic.

Tony says, “Rising up is a song about shaking off the old and embracing the new, letting go of things, situations & even people that may hold you back. It’s a song for the soul, a song of self realisation.” The single is aptly named as it is also the debut release on Tony’s new record label Vibe45 Records, which will release the single and subsequent album under a distribution deal with AWAL.

“Rising Up” comes out on Friday (see pre-order link below), and we’re excited to present the World Premiere today! One listen, and you’ll be anticipating the full album even more. Check out this fantastic single below, and tell us what you think!
