First Listen: The Realm is “Stuck In The Middle”

(December 11, 2022) When a song combines a generous dollop of swag, a kiss of cool and an effervescent bubbly feel, it deserves the spotlight. “Stuck In the Middle” may be your first taste from Manny “The Realm” Rahelu, but check the resume: he isn’t new to this, he’s true to this.

A producer and remixer for a variety of genres and performers (including Tanqueray Hayward, Ingram Street and Jimmy Jam), The Realm started on the wheels of steel as a scratch DJ and turntablist in the early days of hip-hop, building his name and buzz in London’s urban clubs and house parties. A native of Slough, Berkshire UK, The Realm poured decades of influence and a love of 90s R&B into this delightful uptempo, a glib ode to enjoying the moment (in life, a relationship, whichever speaks to you first) since it won’t come around again: “Good morning, let’s go and seize the day/because I know it’s one we’ve never seen before. I know at times we know it’s feelin’ more than strange/ but there’s a lot of days to still be grateful for.”

If you’re in need of a pick-me-up to push through this final month of 2022, or simply can’t listen to one more Christmas song, go ahead and dip into “The Middle.” The Realm’s talents are as expansive as his moniker and he’s worth the journey.
