First Listen: The Funk Factor and The Turner Sisters of Detroit keep us moving

(August 29, 2021) Over the years we’ve covered the music of veteran keyboardist and producer Tim King. He’s a Detroit native who has continued to release music that captures the aura of Motown’s Imperial Period. And now, with his group The Funk Factor – a revolving collective of musicians – King is readying a new collection, Todays Soulful Sound Of Detroit 2.2

In a sneak peek from the collection, The Funk Factor brings in young singers Jaliyah and Jamyla (The Turner Sisters of Detroit) to provide lead vocals on an upbeat number that is full of sass, courtesy of King’s keyboard work and the guitar of Kevin Carter.

“He’s Mine” has a familiar theme of a woman celebrating her man, and warning other women, “Don’t step across the line.” It’s a fun song with a classic soul bounce.

Check out “He’s Mine” and welcome The Funk Factor to SoulTracks.
