(March 25, 2018) They are arguably the most important R&B vocal group of all time, and for more than a half century they have always signified excellence in performance and style. And now, after an eight year absence, The Temptations are re-emerging May 4 with the new album, All The Time.
All The Time features renditions of songs by Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, John Mayer, Maxwell, Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, and The Weeknd, and three new, original Temptations songs. The album is produced by Dave Darling, who is known mostly for his work with classic pop and rock stars, and the advance sounds coming out of the studio are strong.
Last week we introduced the album via the first single, a remake of Sam Smith’s hit “Stay With Me.” We liked it quite a bit, but it received a cooler reception from many SoulTrackers, who wanted to hear new, original material from the group. Well, that’s here now. The current version of The Temptations, consisting of original member Otis Williams and longtime Tempts Ron Tyson and Terry Weeks, along with recent additions Larry Braggs and Willie Greene, have issued the single and lyric video for “Waitin’ On You.” The song is a soul ballad with fantastic, recognizable Temptations harmonies and strong lead vocals from Terry Weeks.
Williams says about the new album, “I‘m 76 now. Looking back, I never could have imagined where my life has taken me. I’m so proud of what The Temptations have achieved, and I’m grateful for every opportunity we’ve been so fortunate to receive. The music carries me. Together, we lift our voices with love and wonder. We had a great time recording All The Time and we hope everyone enjoys it.“
