Well, if you weren’t already blown away by his MJ-esque spring anthem, “You’re My Star,” then maybe the more original power ballad that is the title track from Tank’s forthcoming album’s second single, “Stronger,” will win you over. Singing full voice at the height of his incredibly strong natural tenor, the church boy turned bad boy singer/songwriter/actor/producer has been coming harder than ever with this one-two punch since stepping away from his supergroup, TGT (with Ginuwine and Tyrese), whetting a hearty appetite for fans hungry for modern soul that is still commercial enough for radio. I suspect this will get quite a few rotations in anticipation of his August 12th album release. Certainly, these first two offerings illustrate a much matured and seasoned Tank whose ear for melody and vocal abilities have only gotten better with time.
In the meantime, fans can cop both “You’re My Star” and “Stronger” immediately when they pre-order the ten-track album, Stronger, on iTunes. Get it while it’s hot (and before radio plays it out)!
