First Listen: Sidibe delivers another cool winner on “Diamond”

sidibe

(February 3, 2022) LA-based singer Sidibe brings a lot of musical influences into her music, in part due to her Senegal and Louisiana family roots. And she has found a place in the modern musical world, working with such notables as Warryn Campbell and Common, for whom she wrote “Raw (How You Like It).” She also scored a hit last year with the wonderful “Ready Enough,” featuring Herb Alpert and Devin Morrison.

Her newest single, “Diamond In The Desert” arose from reflections Sidibe had during time she spent in the desert. She says the song “represents a complete shift in my level of awareness. I have spent a lot of time in the desert these past couple of years and it has been more than just a source of inspiration. There is no other place where I feel more connected to source and beauty.”

Rivers made of sand
Flowing through my hands
Everything will change
But your beauty will remain
Hold my memories close
Paint them all in gold
‘Cause diamonds are forever

The beautiful, gentle song echoes Sade at her peak, with Sidibe’s whispered vocals gliding the song along the border of soul and jazz. It’s another winner from the rising singer. Check out “Diamond In The Desert” below, and tell us what you think.
