First Listen: Sargent Tucker finds “Days are Longer” in love

(April 1, 2024) Some long days are the kind that never seem to end. Others are the type that you don’t want to end. Sargent Tucker’s “Days Are Longer” describes the second kind of day. Being involved in a loving and positive relationship inspired Tucker to write “Days Are Longer.”

He wanted the lyrics to paint a mental picture of being with someone you enjoy being with on the longest day of the year when the sun is out, and the sky is blue. All of this gives two people all the reasons they need to walk in the park or the beach or drive down the coast and enjoy each other.

The musical arrangement and the lyrics combine to capture the sunny vibe. “Days Are Longer” is an up-tempo cut and Tucker’s lyrics express that feeling of pure enjoyment that he feels by simply being in the presence of this person. We all know that a day – a 24-hour period marked by a date on a calendar – will come to an end. This song finds Tucker reminding us that true love is not bound by a clock or a calendar.
