(August 16, 2016) “I want viewers to witness black joy. I want smiles. I want hope, not for a better tomorrow, but for a better today. I want to capture the essence of black community and camaraderie and coexistence in a world where it’s not publicized enough. I want to challenge other artists to seek ways to use their own platforms to positively affect the world.”

You know, this Trump guy is making sense. Just to be clear, Sam “Trump” Harris is a Houston born Chicago based trumpeter who is part of a hip-hop/jazz/soul band called Sidewalk Chalk. This quote above is a part of Trump’s effort to promote the video for his latest work as a solo artist, an affirmation of black love, unity and self-determination titled “Brother.” At a time when many in African-Americans feel besieged by forces within and without the community, Trump’s latest track that draws inspiration from sources ranging from the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and 70s to current hip-hop and R&B artists is a call for black love and self-help. Check it out, I’m sure you will approve this message.
