(October 1, 2023) It’s been 20 years since Ruben Studdard wowed the world and won the top prize in the second season of American Idol. Studdard has gone on to have a successful career that includes Grammy nominations as a critically and commercially successful solo artists. He’s branched off into acting on stage and film. Studdard and season two runner up, Clay Aiken, appeared on the season finale of American Idol in May.

Studdard continues putting out new music, and his new song “W.I.F.E” is the kind of song fans will expect from the man affectionally known as “The Velvet Teddy Bear.” “W.I.F.E” is a song that finds Studdard melodically spells out the physical, mental and character virtues of the woman on whose finger he put the ring.

Music fans who are fans of the music of the Great American Songbook know that Studdard trod a path taken by the great Nat King Cole, who spelled out his devotion in swinging style on “L.O.V.E.” Studdard takes us to church on “W.I.F.E,” which is a single on his new album The Way I Remember It, which is due to be released on Oct. 27. Check it out here.
