First Listen: Dessy DiLauro sings of the “Strength of a Woman”

(January 23, 2023) Let’s face it: the last couple of years have been rough ones: political turbulence, post-pandemic struggles and learning to navigate a new “normal.” Simultaneously, those lucky enough to do so have found refuge with the ladies in their lives, resting in her comfort and finding renewed power to charge through an uncertain time. Those qualities are what Dessy DiLauro wanted to pay tribute to as part of her debut release, entitled “Strength of a Woman.”

General in focus but easy to relate to, “Strength…” flows over your ears and into your senses like the mantra that it is: “She’s a queen of all creation, seated on her throne/the mother of all mothers, from where all kings and queens are born.” Dessy’s delivery is gentle, the music ebbs beneath and the lyrics resonate with subtle vigor.

Remember how airline stewardesses show you where to locate the drop-down oxygen mask and instruct you to put one over your own mouth before tending to anyone else? “Strength of a Woman” could be your aural reminder to realize the worth of women in your life……or even your own. Living from day to day takes a lot more out of us than it gives, and music like this feels like a recharge.
