Pasadena-born, Ohio-raised singer and songwriter Oui has a voice reminiscent of Babyface, and that similarity may have been what brought him to the attention of Face’s former group, The Deele. He now sings with that group, which has been actively touring for years and still sounds great.
But Oui’s efforts don’t end with The Deele. He has has established a solo career as part of TMO Entertainment ((908) 868-1322)), and has recently released the album Finally Here. The disc shows him to be a strong lead vocalist, as demonstrated on the first single, “Steppin Out.”
The song opens with a synthesizer, leading to a danceable beat and Oui’s singing. Fresh Raxx helps out later in the song, a smooth dance tune that SoulTrackers should enjoy. Oui tells us, “I normally get attached to a slow to mid tempo song and indulge writing and producing those kinds of hits. But I do enjoy club tracks just as much. When I first heard this track, I instantaneously heard a melody and lyrics immediately followed.”
