World Premiere! Mitchell Coleman and Dionyza Sutton pay tribute to Joe Sample

A few years ago, we introduced SoulTrackers to the talented young singer Dionyza Sutton. We hadn’t heard new music from her in awhile, but she has now teamed with emerging California bassist Mitchell Coleman, Jr. on a new tribute to the late, great Joe Sample. It’s a single from Coleman’s album, Soul Searching.

Sample recorded a classic album with Lalah Hathaway, and one of the featured songs was the beautiful ballad, “When Your Life Was Low.” Mitchell and Dionyza have now put together their own version of that song, and they do the late piano master proud. And no wonder it sounds good. It has two strong artists and it is produced by veteran Motown producer Michael Sutton.

Check out “When Your Life Was Low” and tell us what you think of this talented teaming.
