World Premiere: James Brown backing singer Martha High moves to the front

(November 18, 2019) Martha High has a resume that goes on for days. Incredibly beginning it as part of the James Brown Revue band, she sang with the Godfather of Soul during his heyday as the world’s greatest entertainer.

Martha has since moved to the front of the stage, performing with her crackerjack backup band, The Italian Royal Family. And she is delivering full bodied soul that displays her ample vocal gifts, giving a musical clinic to younger performers.

For her newest single, coming from her upcoming sophomore album on Blind Faith Records, Nothing’s Going Wrong (due in January 2020), she delivers another tour de force, sagely relaying a message of hope in a time of trouble. As she sings, “We’ve got to show the world a little spark, instead of getting used to the dark.”

Martha tells us about this song, “This song touches a lot of things in my life. Having to look back on things I’ve wanted to happen; some happened and then some didn’t. I’ve often wondered, if we, as people really look at this earth and the land that we live upon to be a blessing, or do some feel we shouldn’t care? Does anyone ever think and understand that there’s not going to be any more land growing on this earth, ever? I know there are many people who care, but sometimes it’s good to remind them So, we chose to put it in song.”

We’re proud to present the World Premiere of “A Little Spark,” a great song with a timely message. Check it out below and welcome Martha High to SoulTracks!
