(April 10, 2018) The Brooklyn based six-piece band Karikatura was built to travel. Dima Kay, guitarist and founder of Karikatura who was born in Ukraine and raised in Brooklyn, says “We came together with the express purpose of traveling. We took every chance to tour. The first couple of years we were losing buckets of money, but we were determined, and the experiences we had were worth it in every way.”
Karikatura has performed hundreds of live shows throughout Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America, just to name a few places, and the sextet has picked up musical influences along the way, refining them into their own unique sound. The result can be heard on their sophomore album Ghost Light, which is scheduled to drop on April 27.
Thematically, Ghost Light is “about heartbreak and hard choices,” according to vocalist Ryan Acquaotta. That is certainly the case in their single, “Wasted Time.” The track features haunting backing vocals and an arrangement that fuses funk with a 2-tone ska feel and a bachata bass line, and lyrics that tell the story of a man who perhaps spends a bit too much time thinking about doing and not enough time doing.
We’re proud to present the World Premiere of the video for “Wasted Time.” Check out the song and the art house video below.
