(January 15, 2018) As a longtime favorite of the Soul Tracks family, Heston truly embraces a passion for soul music to the fullest. Those who have followed this singer/songwriter recognize his drive towards musical excellence in a decade-plus career that has spanned extensive international touring. Though his influences are many, one particular inspiration that stands out is reggae legend and Jamaica native, Beres Hammond, because of his impressive artistry. And the current Atlanta Georgia resident is also known to reach back to his own Caribbean roots (born Heston Francis on the island of Dominica), as he did on “Dear God,” a highlight from his last full-length, Transparency.
In further dedication to his home country, Heston re-releases a remixed track off his 2013 CD, Love Junkie, entitled “Our Father,” The sweet, organic reggae flows in a much needed message of empowerment: “We’ve been fighting resistance/We’ve been fighting resistance with persistence/Fighting for what’s rightfully ours.” Heston also relates to portions of The Lord’s Prayer in the New Testament for spiritual direction. Many props to Heston for sharing his unbridled musical passion and excellence on “Our Father,” while directing us to keep our heads up during troublesome times.
