(November 21, 2019) On the heels of his two 2019 SoulTracks Awards nominations, Frank McComb, one of the hardest working artists in soul music, is back with a new single entitled “No Matter What.” It’s a song that is notable for a few reasons: Even though Frank is known as the International Soul/Jazz Superman, the cut is firmly grounded in Urban R&B. This song is also a family affair, as SkinnyKidFrank, Frank’s son, produced it and provided the drum programming and percussion.
“No Matter What” is a midtempo number that is being called a Grown Man’s Anthem. It tells the story of a man trying to win the heart of a lady who has her attention pointed elsewhere. Despite her desire to seek the love of another, the man will not stop in his pursuit of her and guarantees “no matter what, he does I can do it better.” McComb’s signature vocals and harmonies are strikingly confident, which helps to effectively match the man’s bravado in the lyric.
