First Listen: ConFunkShun’s Eric “EQ” Young honors cancer survivors in song

Some SoulTrackers may know Eric “EQ” Young from his bass work over the years. Influenced by such greats as Larry Graham, EQ performed with regional Bay Area bands such as Radiance and Force One Network before being recruited by ConFunkShun’s Michael Cooper to become his guitarist, and later to become the bassist for the reunited ConFunkShun – a relationship that continues two decades later.

We’ve covered a few songs by Eric over the past year, but he has a new one that will have special meaning to many. “Amazing” was written as his tribute to cancer survivors. Eric tells us, “Seeing so many fighting these cancers, from the NFL player’s daughter to so many of my family and friends, going through it all and pushing through is so amazing to me. It touches home to so many footsteps of life. My heroes of today: cancer survivors.”

We’re proud to present “Amazing” as our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
