(June 26, 2019) Rising UK soul singer Danny Toeman has shared the stage with soul/R&B luminaries like Robert Cray, Betty Wright, the late Charles Bradley and even acid jazz favs Incognito. Now as he readies the drop of his debut LP (expected later this year), he’s putting his skill and knowledge to work on his new single, “She’s Got Something About Her.” And trust me, there’s something about it!
It’s dripping in Stax soul and Daptones sweat, yet alive with a certain contemporary afterglow – all thanks to Toeman’s vocal delivery. Wrapped in a young passion, his pleas are of the St. Paul & the Broken Bones kind: fiery on the inside; gritty on the edges; sweet on the falsetto.
We’re calling this a definite retro soul summer joyride. After a few repeats, we’re excited to hear what’s to come from the London boy wonder.
