(August 6, 2019) Crystal Tamar makes her introduction as a lead soloist as a fully formed entertainer. The Houston native has performed as a part of singing groups and as a backing vocalist for the likes of Kanye West, Cee Lo Green and Marsha Ambrosius. She honed her skills as a dancer as a member of Prairie View A & M’s Marching Storm ‘Black Foxes’ and as a member of the Houston Texans cheerleading squad.
Tamar showcases her voice and choreography on the video for her song “Nowhere,” the lead single for her debut EP that will be released in August. “Nowhere” is a mid-tempo contemporary R&B track where Tamar tells the story of a woman committed to staying with her man through good and bad times. The track features the signatures of contemporary R&B such 808 drums laying down a hip-hop infused rhythm and a collaboration between vocalist and rapper. She tells us, “The ‘Nowhere’ video is an authentic picture of where I came from in Houston to where I am now in California in the Bay Area. It’s saying that I’m nowhere without love. It’s about reflection and it’s about coming into who I am.”
