(August 3, 2017) Back in the day, when we were kids, what was the first thing we couldn’t wait to do? Get grown, cop our own cribs and do whatever we wanted to. Little did we know that the struggles were just beginning after we got free, and that reality is what CRW expounds on in his cool, yet catchy mid-tempo, “F M L.”
Debuting on the Tommy Boy Label, “F M L” describes how the 20-year-old Cali native balances living between malaise and motivation, with laid-back vibes reminiscent of a “C’est la Vie” and “Red, Red Wine” mash-up as he dreads the tasks ahead of him, but presses ahead in hope of securing a better day: “I know I’m growing older, I should be figuring my life out/Instead I’m calling for a time out/I know fear on a first name basis…..I’m scared of going homeless, I know the future has no business killing peace of mind/but I’m twenty and afraid of running out of time.”
When you want to throw your hands in the air out of frustration and scurry for an exit, “F M L’s” reggae-recalling vibes will soothe the psyche, validate your inner child and coax you through the ‘I-wanna-be-a-kid-again’ blues. Yes, being a grown-up isn’t easy, but the rewards are worth it. Fake it til’ you make it and just sing along.
