(April 25, 2016) Over the past couple of months, we’ve been featuring new songs from singer-songwriter – and two time GRAMMY-winner – Corinne Bailey Rae, as we excitedly waited for her upcoming disc The Heart Speaks In Whispers, her first full-length album in 6 years. And now we have another new song!

The album will be released May 13 on Virgin Records. The Heart Speaks In Whispers was both at her studio in Leeds, and in Los Angeles, the album is co-produced by Corinne with Steve Brown, her collaborator on her critically acclaimed previous album The Sea. The album features a number of notable musicians including Pino Palladino (D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, The Who), James Gadson (Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers), Marcus Miller (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock), Esperanza Spalding and Moses Sumney (best known for his work with Beck).

“Hey, I Won’t Break Your Heart” is a gentle, acoustic ballad, on which Corinne provides a lovely vocal performance, telling her lover to trust her. We know we would. Corinne says: “This song is about vulnerability, moving out of bitterness into sweetness, love the second time around with the same person. I love the image of standing in a new dress, feeling like a teenager waiting to meet someone whom you actually already know very well. I recorded ‘Hey, I Won’t Break Your Heart’ straight to tape with Pino Palladino and James Gadson at Capitol Studios.

“Hey, I Won’t Break Your Heart” is  our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
