They were one of the truly great bands of the 80s and 90s, with a unique direction and musical viewpoint. And with four top 10 smashes, including the group’s signature #1 hit, “Lean On Me,” Club Nouveau was one of the acts that helped re-establish the Bay Area as a R&B hub, two decades after Sly and the Family Stone burst onto the scene.
The legacy of Club Nouveau has only grown over the past three decades and we’re still listening regularly to both their classic hits as well as their subsequent releases, including 2014’s Consciousness.
Now, after nearly a decade away, Club Nouveau is back with new music – and they sound like they never left. Featuring group leader Jay King as well as new members Tirzah Hubbard and J Ali, CN gets the groove going right away with the groovealicious “It’s Alright.”
This is one of the best pieces of news we’re heard this Fall. We recently featured “It’s Alright” as our Song of the Month. And now we’re happy to see the music video for the cut. Check it out below and welcome Club Nouveau back to the block.
