Berklee College of Music graduate Cliff Beach is now a popular L.A. singer and songwriter who is probably best known in SoCal for his funky music. But he goes a different direction on his new album,Stripped Down & Unplugged. And he opens with an acoustic version of one of his prior funk hits, “Let Me Down.” It is a soul song with a clear folk edge to it, and it definitely works.
As Cliff describes it, “Many of my songs are about relationships that did not work out, but I feel this one is one of my most poignant songs to date. It is always amazing to me that I am able to write songs that tell a story, with lyrics that resonate with the listener. ‘If you’re gonna let me down, let me down easy… let me down slow… let me down gently, baby, gonna let me down, just let me know!’ All I can do is be real, be honest, be Cliff Beach and this acoustic version of this song off my latest EP “Stripped Down & Unplugged” allows the listener to go one the journey with me, and really hear the melody and the lyrics well, while I get to emote and bear my soul. It’s very therapeutic and cathartic for me and I hope you all enjoy”
