First Listen: Greek artist Christos Tambouratzis brings soul to “Love”

christos

(January 9, 2019) While SoulTracks has provided plenty of First Listen moments from artists all around the world, rarely does an opportunity arise in showcasing talent from the island of Greece.  Christos Tambouratzis was honored at the Global Music Awards with a Bronze Medal in 2016 for his Symmetry of Mind release.  This was a much-deserved accolade for this guitarist who is extremely adept in several genres, switching from rock to smooth jazz at a moment’s notice. The veteran musician, who began his journey in the eighties, has collaborated with numerous Greek based musicians and vocalists for solo several E.P.s and albums.

Now signed to German label Tiny Street Records, Tambouratzis deliver his latest project, Cargo, featuring the entertaining single, “Love’s Got Me.”  This track might remind those who heard the Santana/Rob Thomas hit collaboration, “Smooth,” from two decades ago.  The ingredients are quite enticing with a soft Latin kick, a sassy trombone intro and blues-infected lead vocals by Bill Kalantzakos, before Tambouratzis’ fuzz guitar work enters in to further accent the mood.  We at First Listen heartily embrace Christos Tambouratzis for his award-winning musicianship.  Check out “Love’s Got Me.”
