(September 13, 2021) We stop everything when the great Chaka Khan issues new music, so we’re grinning from ear to ear with her brand new single “When The Time Comes,” from the Amazon film Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
Soundtrack writer Dan Gillespie Sells recruited Khan to perform what would be the missing piece in the otherwise finished album. Opening with a flute solo and moving to a hot rhythm section with a light, popping beat, “Ready When The Time Comes” is a complete earworm riding the pop/R&B edge, boasting full-bodied production including percussive horns and a call-and-response chorus.
Chaka gets the chance to open up her formidable pipes on the song, and she sounds great, as always. Check out “When The Time Comes,” below, and get ready to smile.
