(March 8, 2023) We’ve been following singer extraordinaire Bradd Marquis for a few years now on SoulTracks. He is a modern performer who has a keen sense of soul music history. And that sense of the past has led him to create his popular national tour that pays tribute to the late, great Sam Cooke. The Music of Sam Cooke – A Change Is Gonna Come Tour has been a hit all over the US, and continues on with a 2023 leg.
To give fans a sense of the show, Bradd recently released a new single that he also regularly performs on the tour. Interestingly, it is not a Sam Cooke composition, but a popular Bob Dylan cover that Cooke recorded and performed, the iconic “Blowin’ In The Wind.” Bradd says, “Sam thought this song spoke so closely to the conditions of Black America during the civil rights movement that it should have been written by a black man. Sam did the next best thing; he covered it. Unfortunately, the message of this song still resonates to this day,”
The song and the performance are terrific, and now Bradd has released a live video of him singing “Blowin’ In The Wind” in concert. It makes us want even more to see the show live when it comes our way. Check out “Blowin’ In The Wind,” and welcome Bradd Marquis back to SoulTracks.
