First Listen: Bigg Robb gives a Motown groove on “Toot It Up”

biggrobb-fantastic

We have called Bigg Robb  “the bridge between Bootsy, Zapp and Southern Soul,” and the talented singer, songwriter and producer has seemingly worked with everyone since he began in the music business as a teenager. But it is as a solo star that he accumulated millions of fans for his brand of funk, soul and fun.

He’s the pride of Ohio, but for his newest single, Robb takes a quick drive up I-75 to incorporate the classic sound of Motown. “Toot It Up” feels like something Junior Walker might have issued in 1969, with the lyrical touch and visual flourish that is all Bigg Robb.

The video alternates between the stage and an old school record store, and Bigg Robb has more outfits than Diana Ross in Vegas. It’s all in fun and the song delivers the cool 60s vibe throughout.

Check out “Toot it Up” below, and welcome Bigg Robb back to SoulTracks.
