September 30, 2020 — Alina Baraz is a singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles who released her debut EP, Urban Flora, in 2015. It reached number 2 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, but Baraz pivoted away from that sound towards an alluring style of alt-R&B. Earlier this year, Baraz released her first full-length album, It Was Divine, on the indie label Mom + Pop, which has risen to number 6 on the Billboard R&B albums chart.
We feature here the track “Until I Met You” from her new record. It’s a compelling ode to a new relationship featuring spare, tasteful electric guitar, a hypnotic, head-nodding beat, and Baraz’s sultry, inviting voice. The gifted rapper Nas also makes a brief but divine appearance here; his flow is just right for the track. You’ll hit repeat on this one, I promise. Enjoy.
