First Listen: Al Lindsey wants to “Try” again

(December 2, 2024) For years, artists have used their music to address the problems of the world and the hopes of fixing them.  Classic examples like “What’s Going On” (Marvin Gaye) and “Wake Up Everybody” (Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes) still resonate today. Even though issues in society persist, a level of healing can come through songs that call for a better day.

The latest single by Michigan-based soul singer Al Lindsey called “Try, Try” fits into this category.  His song – which is a collaboration between him and UK songstress Sugar Rainbow – is described as “a plea for peace and harmony, suggesting we simply try to show love and respect for others.”

We know that showing love and respect goes a long way, but we see that it is often lacking in daily life.  “Try, Try” is a Southern Soul-style reminder that if we do what is within our power – treat others the way we want to be treated – things can be a bit better.

Al Lindsey is receiving high praise for “Try, Try,” as some are calling it his “best work yet.”  That’s notable for someone who is already an accomplished artist and lifelong entertainer with four albums, several singles, and many honors under his belt since forming his Pulsating Music record label in 1991.

Check out “Try, Try” below.  It is more proof that songs calling for a brighter day continue to resonate with music fans everywhere because everyone – no matter the location – wants to see things get better.
