(July 20, 2022) Thirty-five years after the original trio formed in 1987, After 7 co-founder/lead singer Kevon Edmonds is still giving the sun, the moon, the stars (paraphrasing their 1989 hit, “Ready Or Not”) with current lineup consisting of himself, Keith Mitchell and Danny McClain.
Their new single, “Tomorrow Can Wait,” from the Unfinished Business album, picks up where their classic hits from the past have left off. Smooth, steady, and slow, the lyrics paint a picture of wanting to savor the moments in love right at that moment with no worry about tomorrow.
Danny McClain’s lead vocals on this have won over fans and listeners, judging by the comments left on the song’s YouTube posting. Great to hear that, like what was done with original member Melvin Edmonds (RIP) and his son/former member Jason, the lead vocal chair is still shared by all three.
May After 7’s business in music remains unfinished with more future soul classics on the horizon.
