(June 12, 2016) In a half century career as part of the Neville Brothers and as a solo artist, Aaron Neville has entered into the realm of “living legend.” His unique, soulful voice has covered everything from jazz to gospel to soul to rock to, of course, the amalagam that is the Sound of New Orleans. But it has been a few years since we’ve heard new music from the talented Mr. Neville.
He will be returning in July with a new album called Apache, and he leads it off with a high powered soulful rock number, accompanied by the Dap Kings. “Be Your Man” has a bit of Isley Brothers and a bit of 60’s rock behind it, and a lot of Aaron Neville’s expressive voice up front. We’re enjoying it fully.
